Hun er også hovedkurator for biodiversitetsgalleriet, en af de permanente udstillinger i det nye museumsbyggeri ved Statens Naturhistoriske Museum.

Natasha er biodiversitetsforsker, og hendes forskning fokuserer på de indbyrdes sammenhængende globale udfordringer: ​tab af biodiversitet, klimaforandringer og menneskers sundhed og trivsel, med tre forskningsområder. Hun arbejder med plantemangfoldighed og -bevaring, samspillet mellem planter og bestøvere, samt forbindelserne mellem biodiversitet og menneskers trivsel. Hun anvender en kombination af eDNA-feltarbejde og eksemplarer fra herbarier og museer.

Før Natasha kom til Statens Naturhistoriske Museum, var hun videnskabelig leder ved National Botanic Gardens of Wales.

– Her var et af mine andre hovedinteresseområder offentlig formidling, som er vigtig både for at beskytte biodiversitet og for at give alle mulighed for at deltage i løsningen af de store problemer, vi oplever med tab af biodiversitet og klimaforandringer, siger Natasha Louise de Vere.

Som professor vil hun også fortsætte sit arbejde som mentor for kvindelige forskere inden for naturvidenskab.

– Selvom det går den rigtige vej, er der stadig alt for få kvindelige professorer. Jeg håber derfor at kunne bruge mine erfaringer til at støtte kvindelige forskere, fortæller hun.

Natasha Louise de Vere vil holde sin tiltrædelsesforelæsning, efterfulgt af en reception, i GM-auditoriet den 3. oktober kl. 14. Titel: "Planter, bestøvere og menneskers trivsel: opbygning af forbindelser og modstandsdygtighed i en verden i forandring."

Natasha Louise de Vere has been Associate Professor, Curator and Section Leader for Botany at the Natural History Museum of Denmark since September 2021. Now she is the first person in the Science Faculty to be appointed as full professor as part of the new Professor Promotion Programme.

Natasha researches plant and pollinator ecology and conservation. As Curator of Botany, she is responsible for the vascular plant collections in the museum's Herbarium C, which has approx. 1.4 million specimens, and the living collections in the Botanical Gardens.

Natasha is also the lead curator of the biodiversity gallery, which is one of the permanent exhibitions in NHM Denmark's new museum building.

Natasha is a biodiversity scientist whose resea​rch focuses on the interconnected global challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change and human health and well-being, with three research themes. She works on plant diversity and conservation, plant-pollinator interactions and the links between biodiversity and human well-being. She uses a combination of eDNA fieldwork and specimens from herbaria and museums.

Before joining NHM Denmark, Natasha was Head of Science at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales.

- Here, one of my other major areas of interest was public engagement, which is important both to protect biodiversity and to give everyone an opportunity to participate in solving the major problems we are experiencing with biodiversity loss and climate change, says Natasha Louise de Vere.

As a professor, she will also continue her work as a mentor for female natural science researchers.

- Even if it is going in the right direction, there are still far too few female professors. I therefore hope to use my experience to support female scientists, says Natasha.

Natasha Louise de Vere will give her inaugural lecture, followed by a reception, in the GM Auditorium on 3 October at 14.
